After learning to swim at the age of three, Ben spent most of his life in and around the water.
In his younger days he was captain of the Hunter swimming team, where trained under Eric Arnold and Bob Milton, before starting his coaching career. Bob was actually the founding owner of the Toronto Swim Centre, where Ben and Macquarie Shore Swimming Club now call home.
"Every year I'm trying to make sure I get better and that the kids get better. There is nothing better than seeing a kid learn to swim get right through to the national level,"
Ben has more than 20 years experience in coaching. He has enjoyed Head Coach positions at the Auburn and Scone Swimming Clubs and coached in the USA College system at The University of Alabama. He divides his time between managing the Toronto Swim Centre and coaching Macquarie Shores' competitive swimmers.
"I give the swimmers the work they need, not necessarily the work they like!"
Ben is a Silver Level coach and has served on the NSW board of the Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association.
